““Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God’s handwriting.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Growing up, I’ve always had very clear, smooth skin; however, I noticed that when I moved to Canada, my skin changed and I developed very oily skin, I’m talking fry chicken on my face oily😅 Nonetheless, it remained clear and smooth. I had never suffered from acne until one day (while I was living in NY) I went to get my hair braided and to this day I have no idea what the hairdresser sprayed in my hair, but the next morning I woke up and my face had pimples all over it (👉🏾😶😟😦😧😲😵🥺😭..these emoji’s sum up my reaction in stages, while my brain was starting to realize what was happening). I’m not talking surface-level pimples, but cystic-type acne, needless to say, I cried for about a week. What ensued after was a tug of war of trying to get my skin back to what it was and that was a very steep uphill battle. I tried everything under the sun, from natural, drugstore and expensive products. Some things worked for a bit and others were just fluff. After years and years of trial and error and believe me, the errors were a lot😩, I finally started having success. First, it was with Ole Henriksen’s brightening products, then I stumbled upon The Ordinary products and phew, why didn’t anyone tell me about these sooner 🤯these products had my skin looking like it did before and even better! Last but not least, the absolute holy grail items that I use and will use for the rest of my life are the Urban Skin RX products. These products are targeted at women of colour with various skincare issues and IT WORKS! I will recommend it 10/10 times to anyone who asks. The only downside for my Canadian peeps is the price conversion and duties but it is so worth it. Overall, no matter your skin type and no matter what skin issues you may be dealing with, you’re still beautiful🤍 I understand it may be frustrating trying to find that magic item, but it really is trial and error until you find out what works for you. Also, remember that everyone’s skin is different and what may work for some may not work for you and vice versa.

The three brands pictured below are my absolute favourite and what is currently working for me. However, I love trying new products and will have dedicated posts for them.
Makeup
Growing up, I was never allowed to wear makeup and never gave it a second thought. However, I LOVED lip gloss and still do to this day. I believe I started getting into makeup in my early 20s, maybe about 23 or so. I would binge-watch YouTube videos, trying to learn how to apply eye shadow (I still suck at it LOL), contouring, highlighting and the whole yard. After all these years of binge-watching those videos, I am proud to announce that I am still not an expert 😅but I do what works for my face. In this section, I will highlight (all puns intended😊)my favourite makeup brands and products that I use. I will also talk about perfumes I love and want to purchase, because who doesn’t love to smell edible😉
Such a fantastic read!!! 👏🏿 I’ll look into the urban Skin RX products.
