Hi, lovelies,
This is the first post of my mini wedding series😊
Engagement season has been in full swing and I am here for it. 1)I recently got engaged to the love of my life 2) I LOVE love. Did I mention that I’m engaged? It still feels so surreal to me and I am enjoying every bit of this stage ❤️I won’t go into details about our proposal because this post is specifically tailored to engagement rings, particularly mine.
Let me start off by letting you know some fun facts about my ring:
- The rock on my engagement ring came from space☄️you’re probably wondering what I’m talking about so keep reading.
- My ring is literally named after me
- My love had the sweetest message engraved in the band, which says: To my true north, my way home. (Swooning🥰)
Growing up I’ve always heard “diamonds are a girl’s best friend”, whether it was being advertised on tv or just hearing women and girls alike stating so. Come to think of it, I was never fussy about diamonds. Do they look beautiful? Sure, but I never got overly excited about them. Funny enough, when I used to daydream about what kind of engagement ring I would like one day, I always looked at diamond rings simply because that’s what I knew about. Initially, I fell in love with the pear cut stone and always said I’d like that one day. Fast forward to a couple of years ago, and I started hearing about Moissanite. If you’re anything like me back then, you’re probably wondering wtf is moissanite 😅 I’m here to put you on. A Nobel prize-winning, French scientist named Henri Mossian discovered this gemstone in 1893. Fun fact, they’re called the gemstone of the stars ✨. As I said initially, these babies literally came from space, from a fallen meteorite. Aside from these super cool facts, I fell in love with the look, elegance, and quality of the stone and its conflict-freeness. What’s even better is that it doesn’t break the bank like a diamond would, and let’s not even talk about blood diamonds. After doing my research I knew that one day I would love for my engagement ring to have moissanite center stone.
Fast forward to 2020, when I met my now fiancé. On our first date, he asked me if I was a diamond girl and because I was caught off guard a little bit, I said yes 😀knowing that I did not want a diamond ring. Long story short, as our relationship progressed and the talk of marriage came up, I had to let him know that I wanted a moissanite ring, lo and behold, he let me know that he loves moissanite as well. When the time came for ring shopping, we looked online and also visited a couple of stores to get sized and try on a few. Below are a few pictures of some of the rings I tried on. As I mentioned earlier, I always liked pear-shaped stones; however, oval-shaped stones were tied at the top with them. After trying on a few, I came to the conclusion that I loved oval stones more than anything else and they fit my hand and finger perfectly. The following images are just a handful of rings I tried on, during our shopping around phase.
Below is a video of clips of my actual engagement ring😍It is exactly what I wanted and my fiancé delivered❤️ (SN:The quality of the clips were lowered after embedding it)
My ring💍
- The center stone is moissanite.
- The stones around the band are lab-grown diamonds
- There is a hidden diamond halo underneath the center stone
Moissanite Fast Facts
- On the Mohs (hardness) scale, it ranges from 9.25-9.5 out of 10 (for reference, a diamond is 10)
- It is its own gemstone
- Came from a fallen meteorite (Henri initially thought it was a diamond)
- It is incredibly rare; however, like diamonds, it can also be lab-grown (it is by far the rarest jewel on earth)
- It is more brilliant than a diamond. (This may come as a shock to some people but it’s true. Moissanites reflect more light than diamonds)
- It has superior heat resistance
- It is conflict-free
I hope you all enjoyed the first post of my mini wedding series. I am enjoying being engaged; however, I am also enjoying the process of planning our wedding, figuring out what we want and like, and trying to make it as stress-free as possible. As always, thank you for reading😊
Xx,
