Nighttime Skincare & Body Routine
Hello, lovelies,
It’s been a little while since I’ve written a new post. My brain has been stuck in one mode which is wedding mode. I’m getting married in 3 months and I am trying to get everything organized and done without stressing. If you would like to check out my wedding series so far click here. In today’s post, I will be sharing with you my nighttime skincare/body/bedtime routine and the products I use and am loving. A little background on my skin: I have had flawless skin all my life, I used to get asked “are you wearing makeup?” when I wasn’t. I never had acne or any kind of skin issues. However; that all changed a few years ago. I was living in New York at the time and wanted to get my hair braided, everything and in the end, she used some type of hair spray when she was finished. I didn’t think anything of it until I woke up the next morning and my entire face was covered in what I thought were hives at the time and inflamed. I cried for a week. Up to this day, I have no idea what kind of spray was used in my hair but somehow it caused some sort of severe reaction on my face. That was the beginning of a rapid downhill battle with my skin and trying to fix it and get it back to what it used to be.
The frustration I felt over the years was indescribable. There were times when it seemed it was getting better only to get worse. I developed acne nodules, hyperpigmentation, dark spots, my skin became easily scarred etc. I tried everything it seemed but nothing worked or didn’t work for too long. I tried everything from honey & turmeric masks, Cetaphil, Clinique, black soap, Kiehl’s etc and they didn’t do much for me. I even went to see a dermatologist and I don’t remember what he gave me but it worked for a while until it didn’t anymore. Fast forward to about 3 years ago, I started using Ole Henriksen products and that’s when I started seeing some change; sadly, I wasn’t consistent and went back to trying different things. At the beginning of the pandemic, I came across “The Ordinary” products and was blown away by how effective they were. These products had my skin transforming before my very eyes. Fast forward a little later during the pandemic and I discovered urbanskin Rx which became an instant favourite and was the “thing” I was looking for to restore my skin back to its former glory. UrbanSkin RX products are paraben-free, sulfate-free, and cruelty-free. I currently use their even tone value kit which includes their famous cleansing bar, vitamin-C serum, retinol treatment and sunscreen. Without further ado, let’s get into the products I use in my nighttime skincare & body routine below
FACE
- Even tone cleansing bar
- Ole Henriksen: Glow2OH dark spot toner
- Ole Henriksen: Banana bright eye cream
- Retinol rapid repair & dark spot treatment
- Tatcha: The dewy skin cream

- Body butter
- Body oil
- Body mist /perfume
- Vaseline
I took some shots of what my skin currently looks like and I am very happy with the progress I have been seeing. I am almost back to what my skin looked like before that flare-up and downhill battle, but even better.
I typically use glow recipe’s retinol eye cream since it has retinol in it and follow up with first aid beauty’s 5 in 1 eye cream. Currently, I’m using Ole Henriksen banana bright eye cream. My sleep schedule is a bit out of whack again and I have developed dark circles again; however, I have noticed that they disappear completely when my sleeping is on track.
Last but not least, my lips. I think a lot of people neglect their lips or simply forget that it has skin as should be a part of your skincare routine. I am a sucker for lip scrubs and lip balms. I typically make my own lip scrub with sugar and oil and follow up with one of my various lip balms. Currently, I am using Fenty Beauty’s lip scrub & balm set. My favourite lip balms (lip sleeping masks) are by Laneige.
This concludes my nighttime skincare & body routine. As always, thank you so much for reading. Leave a comment below and let me know what your skincare routine is like😊
The skin battle sounds scary. Hope it never happens again. You have lovely skin. I too have a lot of issues with my facial skin, my body itself while dry isn’t an issue. I too love body butters, lotions and lip balms. And, hand creams. But I have tried various brands, but things don’t stick.
It was pretty scary! But I’m just happy I’m over that hurdle now☺️I find as I get older my skin gets dry in the winter time so I double up on body butters and oils during that time as well. Thanks for reading ☺️
